Audience effects theory: Blue Planet

  1) Write a definition of a   passive  audience? This is the view that audiences  passively  take in information from the media and that these messages have the same effect on everyone. 2)  Write a definition of an  active  audience?   This is the more modern and generally accepted view that audiences  interact  with and make conscious choices regarding the media they consume. 3) Write a definition of the  hypodermic needle  theory? This is the suggestion that audiences are always  passive  and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. Age, Gender, Class, Ethnicity.    2) Why are media companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics?   1) Pick  three   aspects of  camera movement  in the Minority Report clip. Identify the  type  of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience. This is a Medium shot. The director chose this type of camera angle to zoom in to the character facial expression.  This is a Two shot. The director chose this type of camera angle to show that the other man came closer to him.  This is a Long shot.   1) Pick  three  camera   shots  from the Doctor Who scene and explain what type of shot it is and what meanings or effect they have on the audience. Establishing shot - At the end it showed the setting of the scene. It shows to the audience where the people are.  Medium close - up - Through out the scene the camera was medium close up it was only showing the actors facial expression. This was showing how the actors react to the though the scene.  Two shot - In the scene two of the actors where together and it was a medium close up.    2) Pick  one  camera  angle  that is used in the scene and explain the effect it has on the audience.  At the end it was high angle it was showing around the whole setting. 'Mise-en-scene: Stranger Things analysis'

Costume: The character at the start is wearing a white lab coat. This suggests to the audience that he could be a scientist or a doctor. The kids were wearing old fashioned clothes and have long hair. This shows that this was set in olden days. Lighting: The lighting in the scene is turning on and off.  In the basement there was only one light.  This suggests to the audience that they are trying to create a horror scene and create suspense to scary the audience.  Setting: At the start, it is set in a hospital, in the middle of the scene, in a basement, and at the end, in a forest.  Props: The boys uses bicycle. Uses a telephone to call someone but it didn't work. He also uses a gun at the end but he wasn't able to since the monster was behind him.  Actor placement/movement/expression: The man at the start looks terrified and the boys seemed happy playing until one of them left to go back home. WaterAid advert dentation & connotation

  Denotation: In the Water Aid advert, I can see a boy sanding, he's wearing a blue shirt. There is: Logo and title which are example of written and verbal codes. There are also symbolic or non-verbal codes the boy has expression of sadness. There is also technical codes such as the colour of the background is brown. The audience might feel sorry for the people that don't have Water or a bathroom that they can go to. The audience might want to help the people in need. Connotation: In the Water Aid, the connotation of the colour scheme brown which could infer that were the boy lives its a poor place and maybe the water aid is making us feel bad about the boy ad people living without water.
